Gluten Free Casein Free Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Spread
Originally uploaded by orangejack.
I made the best Thanksgiving meal this year! Okay, I'm bragging, but let me just tell you - it was really good! I had to make sure Rob could eat it because of his food allergies to gluten (wheat, oats, barley, rye, malt) eggs, dairy and a few other things. So there's no way he'd be able to eat our traditonal southern Thanksgiving meal. So I made some alterations to great recipes and everything was really good. I even made the cranberry sauce myself, which I've never done before.

Our Thanksgiving Menu:Instead of real butter I used Earth Balance and it worked really well.

I was going to make a few other things too but didn't get around to it. So I'm going to do it tomorrow and have it with leftovers.

Okay, it's 11:30 pm, and even though I should be in bed asleep (I'm going right after I blog), I'm watching an Ellen repeat with John Cusack as a guest. John Cusack is probably the longest actor "crush" I've had. And he's not the greatest looking guy but I think he's funny. I love his acting. I've had a crush on him since he was in Say Anything. His sister Joan cracks me up too. Both of them are funny.

And with that written, I'm going to bed. Good night.

Pickle Appreciation Day

Apparently today is Pickle Appreciation Day according to a few co-workers. They bought a bunch of individually bagged pickles to hand out to everyone in our office. They crack me up!

Pet Peeve of the Week

When people throw away good stuff!

Just this week I've seen, in the trash pile:
  • a perfectly good dining room table with chairs, a little old but still in good shape
  • 3 plastic lawn chairs
Why does this bug me? Because there are tons of less fortunate people who would love this stuff. Take it to Goodwill or something, it's not that far away! But don't throw away good stuff. If I was able to I'd stop and pick up all the good things people throw away just to take it to Goodwill.

Been On A Break

Rob and I took vacation time a week ago and we've been traveling lots - the reason for not posting. I'll tell you more about our great vacation! But for now, here are a few random thoughts.
  • I made a great dinner last night that included a Butternut Squash-Apple Soup.
  • I've been able to keep the A/C off most of the day! I love this type of weather.
  • Freakin' out a a little because Christmas is so soon! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
  • We're finally having our long awaited yard sale this Saturday.
That's it for now.
