Pitatayo is me! That's how I pronounced my first and last name when I was really little and learning to talk. This blog is about me, my life, my experiences and other things I want to write about.

This blog has moved. Please visit me at Patricia's Place!

I'm so excited! I'm trying out some new contacts and they seem to be working! I've had a really hard time getting fitted for contacts. Hopefully these will work.

Green Bean

Long green bean

Check out how long this green bean is! My sister's friend gave it to her from his garden.

ME: Oh my gosh, look how long that is! How'd he grow that?
Anita: He's Thai.
Will(Anita's Phillipino boyfriend): You've never seen a green bean that long? That's how my family grows them. They're all that long.
ME: Not the ones in the grocery store.

Apparently green beans grow long in parts of Asia. I learn something new everyday.

Peaceful Virginia

Mama's backyard

I'm at my mom and step-father's house sitting on the deck in the backyard. The thermometer says it's 90 degrees in the sun but it's much cooler where I'm sitting in the shade. It's peaceful back here. There are woods in the backyard and a huge crepe- myrtel tree with tons of pink blossoms right in front of me.

I really like northern Virginia. I've been up here for the weekend visiting family and my friend asked me last night how my visit has been. I can honestly answer that it's been good. I can't always say that. But I got to hang out with both sisters, mom, best friend and even my dad was in town too. He lives in Pittsburgh.

What stresses me out about being up here isn't my family. It's the traffic, the business of life, the amount of time it takes me to go from one place to another. My family lives all over the northern Virginia area and it can take 45 minutes to go from my mom's house to my sister's place. And that's without traffic.

When I have the chance to relax up here like I am now, I love it. Virginia is a beautiful state. It's so green and colorful with tons of pretty trees. Some would say the weather is hot today, but compared to Orlando it's nice and cool! Sometimes when I come up here I can't wait to go home but today I miss living up here. And I'll miss seeing my family.

Air and Space Museum

I flew into Washington DC on Thursday to visit my family for the weekend and my dad picked me up at Dulles airport. After lunch we went to the new part of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum near Dulles, the The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. It was fun. It's like a big airplane hangar with a bunch of airplanes, helicopters, and a space shuttle inside for people to view. If you're in the area I recommend going.

Anyway, the Enola Gay is there too. My dad and I took a break in the McCafe there and watched the airplanes land, which was also fun. I really love airplanes. I'll write more later.

Shopping With Teenagers

Our Canadian friends our in town and Claudia, her daugther Carly and her niece Nica have stayed with us for a couple of days. Carly and Nica will be 16 in a couple of months. We went to the mall yesterday and let me just tell you it was really fun shopping with them. It was fun to watch them get excited about certain stores we have here that they don't have in Vancouver. And I was getting some good style tips from them. So, I felt a little old but that's okay. Now I'm a little more in the know about what to wear and how to wear it!

Last month I had over 200 messages in my inbox. I just didn't have time to get to them all. So I've been working on deleting, organizing, and answering my emails. I'm proud to say that I now have 25 messages in my inbox!

Of course I now have a bunch in other folders, but I'm getting there.

Bye Bye Derby

Originally uploaded by Patricia102696.
Our pet cockatiel, Derby, died 2 weeks ago. Our neighbors were watching him while we were gone in Colorado. When we called them last week to see if they could watch him an extra week they told us he had just died. They don't know what happened...just found him dead on the floor.

Rob and I are both sad. It's habit for us to say "hi Derby" when we walk in the house. Or to whistle to him during the day. We got his cage back yesterday and it's sitting in the garage as a reminder when we take the trash out. It's funny how attached we were to our little bird. He was our pet.

We're not going to get another bird right now. It had become harder and harder to find people to watch Derby while we were gone. We had Derby for 5 years and we think he was 9. Cockatiels normally live about 15 - 20 years. We'll miss his pretty whistling.

Bye bye Derby.

Almost Home

We're in Simpsonville visiting Rob's family. Tomorrow we're driving home. It's been a good drive from Colorado. It'll be nice to be home.
