Healthy? Really?

I just read the weekly Crusade headquarters enewsletter. Apparently we can get healthy snacks for our meetings now. I was exicted until I read it:
HEALTHY SNACKS

Healthier snack options offered by the Events team include: 100 calorie packs of Oreos, Chips Ahoy and Wheat Thins. All have zero transfat and just 3 fat grams. Sugar-free options are Golden Batch Vanilla Cream Wafers and Salted Cashews.

Can you really say that Oreos and Chips Ahoy are healthy?

I don't think so.

Emery and Me

Check out the baby! Isn't she a cutie? That's Emery, Hilary and Lee's little girl. She's 5 months old. I was in Sierra Vista, about and hour south of Tuscon, visiting Hilary a couple of weekends ago.

Creativity Unleashed

I just came home from the first night of a writing conference. The main room was full of round tables and on each table was a very creative centerpiece complete with: goldfish (real not the crackers) in a pitcher, colored pencils, glitter glue, pieces of funky paper, zigzag scissors and a paper table cloth to color on. It was meant to spur our creativity and it worked for me.

It took me awhile to notice the stuff on the table but after someone pointed it out I got so excited! There was stuff for me to play with! I could color and cut and create! So what did I do?

  • Wrote everyone's name with a different color in pretty writing where they were sitting
  • Cut up the paper with the cool scissors and glued it in a pattern on the paper cloth
  • Colored some of the leaves on the paper cover with different themes: cow leaf, Hokie leaf, Clemson leaf, etc.
  • Created little leaf people from the colored leaves: Leafstrom & Leafella (they are cute too!)

I love to create and be creative and I don't do it often enough. My daily schedule is usually filled up with a big list of "to-do's" written down the night before. It's the only way I can get stuff done. It's usually after a few weeks of following my list that I start to feel like I'm not creative. Then I get all down on myself because I'm not as creative as I thought. But you know what's really happening? It's when I'm not making time to play creatively that I start to feel uncreative.

Tonight reminded me that I need to make time for creativity. After coloring a few minutes I started thinking of all the creative projects I could be working on. Ideas started coming to mind. I wanted to finish the painting I'm working on for my mom instead of sitting listening to a speaker! What more could I color? What more could I create? Now all I want to do is paint but instead I have to be at the conference for the next day and a half!

So I guess the conference has succeeded in spurring my creativity. Of course it probably would have been better if it would have spurred my writing creativity instead of my design creativity. But, then again I did come home and start writing this blog entry instead of getting out my paints.

The Truck is Ours!

I'm happy to anounce that Rob and I finally own our truck. We'll get the title next week. But we paid it off this month and it feels great not to have anymore payments to make on it.

I've been working hard on paying off our debt and it's a good feeling to be able to check the truck off our list. Thanks Amanda for reminding me to celebrate. We didn't high five because, it's so grease monkey, but I did a little celebration dance.

I Got Run Over By A Dog

I really did believe it or not. I was at a dog park yesterday with Hilary, Lee and their to Labs, a black and yellow one. And I was having fun watching them but apparently I walked into the path of the pack that was running around...fast.

The next thing I know there's a yellow dog slamming sideways into my left leg and I hear my knee pop! I'm okay but my knee still aches today and so does my ankle. Silly dogs.

The Best Sandwhich EVER!

I had the best sandwhich ever this afternoon for lunch. It was a Grilled Chicken Panini with pear and mango chutney, cranberries, and Havarti cheese! Yummmm! I can't wait to get home and make it again. I love gourmet fancy food.

I'm in Arizona visiting my friend Hilary and we were in Bisbee which is an old copper mining town. If you're ever there, the name of the cafe we ate lunch at was called Big Sky Cafe. I highly recommend it.

What Pocky Flavor Are You??

You know how much I love Pocky. When I bought a few packs at the store the other day the lady behind the register asked me if they were for the kids. I guess she meant my kids. "Uh...no...I don't have any kids", I told her, "they're for me". For some reason she thought that was funny.

I found this cool test to find out what kind of Pocky flavor your are. Take it and let me know what kind of Pocky you are. My result is below. I'd say it's pretty accurate.

What Flavor Pocky Are You?

You Are Reverse Pocky

Your attitude: rebellious and clever
Non-conformist, but curiously a trendsetter

With you, up is down... and it's a wild ride!

Mornning Woes

I only have 2 pair of pants that fit me right now. I need to fix one pair tonight and take the hem down so they are long enough for me. I was supposed to do that last night but ran out of time.

The other pair are fine, or so I thought until I put them on. The hem on these pants came apart so now one leg is too long. I almost didn't go to work today because I didn't have anything to wear. But I found a saftey pin and pinned them up. A safety pin is much better than stapling my pants like Leah did.
